Elli Lind - Head of School

Welcome to The Leadership Academy!
My name is Elisabeth Lind (also known as Elli Lind), and I am the Head of School at The Leadership Academy.

I was born and raised in Würzburg, Germany, where I met my late husband who was stationed in the area with the US Army at the time. We traveled the world together and lived in different places on several military assignments until we decided to retire in Tyler, Texas – my late husband’s last duty station. Sadly, he passed away in 2022. However, I will be forever grateful that our journey brought us to Tyler and ultimately to The Leadership Academy.

Originally studying linguistics, I am fluent in German, English, Spanish and French. I have a degree in education and leadership studies. My hobbies include photography, reading, traveling, dancing, and baking.

I have been with our school since 2013. Specifically looking for quality Montessori education for my firstborn when initially arriving in Tyler, I was thrilled to find Oak Hill Montessori School. I started out as a parent when my daughter enrolled as a Primary student. In 2014, I began working at the school as a Guide in various capacities. When Oak Hill Montessori School merged with Cumberland Academy in 2017 and became The Leadership Academy, I began my administrative career as TLA’s office manager. Under the mentorship and guidance of Louise Dyer, the founder of our school, I proceeded to learn and grow, and transition into the role of Head of School after Mrs. Dyer’s retirement in 2021. In my position I oversee the operations of our entire campus (both the private school and the charter school). I strive to serve as a caring leader mindful of The Leadership Academy’s needs in all areas.

I have two children – Karla and Gabriel – who both attend The Leadership Academy. Dr. Montessori’s philosophy has become a way of life for me and my family. Respectful interaction, continuous character building, as well as fostering a curious mind and loving heart are all important aspects which promote a passion for lifelong learning, connection, and growth. Dr. Montessori’s approach helps our children develop into independent, self- motivated, responsible individuals, preparing them to become our future leaders. I am proud to be part of this process as I get to guide and exchange experiences with our staff, students and TLA families every day on this spectacular journey.
